PLA products are much better alternative to Styrofoam (non-degradable), plastic (non-biodegradable, petroleum based,
pollutant) and paper (cutting trees). They biodegrade within 180 days in a commercial composting facility, but can take a year
or more in a  home composting system.  They should be kept away from the sun and hot surfaces.
